Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how KidLit Pop ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use kidlitpop.com and its related services (the "Service").
1. Information we collect
We collect information you give us, plus a small amount of information collected automatically:
- Account information, such as your name, email address, and password. If you sign in through another account, such as Google, that provider shares your name and email address with us.
- Your birth year, which we ask for when you sign up to check that you're old enough to have an account. We don't save it, show it to anyone, or use it for anything else.
- Your activity on the Service, such as the books you save and the answers you give in our book-matching tools. Those answers may describe a child's age group and interests. We never ask for a child's name.
- Information authors provide, such as profile details, photos, book details, cover images, and other materials submitted for review.
- Your email address, if you join our mailing list.
- Basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, which our hosting provider logs for security and performance. We also count clicks on store links without recording who clicked.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to run the Service: to manage your account, save your preferences, and suggest books. We also use it to review author applications and book submissions, publish approved author and book information, contact you about your account or submissions, keep the Service secure, and meet our legal obligations. Once our newsletter launches, we'll use mailing list addresses to send it.
If we want to use your information for a purpose not described here, we'll ask for your consent first.
3. Information that is public
Your account information and activity stay private. When we approve an author, their profile and published books appear publicly on the Service and may be shared on KidLit Pop's social media channels.
4. How we share information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. We share it only in these cases:
- With service providers that host the website, handle sign-in, store data, and send email for us. They may use it only to provide those services.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of KidLit Pop, our users, or others.
- With a new owner if KidLit Pop is merged or sold, under the protections in this policy.
Our service providers may store or process information outside the country where you live, including in the United States, where local laws apply to it.
5. Cookies
We use only the cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and make the Service work. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
6. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. When you delete your account, we delete your account information and activity. Published books stay on the Service with the author's name after an author deletes their account, unless the author asks us to remove them.
7. Your rights and choices
You can update your account details or delete your account at any time in your account settings. Deleting your account doesn't remove you from our mailing list; to leave the list, email kidlitpop@gmail.com. Once our newsletter launches, every email will include an unsubscribe link.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to withdraw your consent, or to complain to your local privacy regulator. To make a request, email kidlitpop@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
KidLit Pop is made for parents, teachers, caregivers, and authors. Children shouldn't create accounts or send us personal information. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it. Please contact us if you think this has happened.
9. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information and limit access to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee the security of information sent to us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post changes on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also tell account holders by email or with a notice on the Service.
11. Contact us
Send questions about this policy or your information to kidlitpop@gmail.com.
